Best Boom 3D settings for Kodi on Mac?

I installed Boom 3D on my mac last week and I've been running the trial to see it how various apps fare with it. So far I've been pretty happy with it but I'm struggling with Kodi a bit. While watching videos, the voices sounds (quite significantly) deeper to the point that sometimes the women sound like men. The moment I switch the audio from the Boom 3D to the default system via Kodi's settings, it sounds normal.
So I was wondering whether anyone has experience with setting up Boom 3D to work with Kodi?
